• Name of Post: Project Associate: IUCAA Rural Outreach

• Pay / Remuneration: Consolidated salary of Rs. 35,000/- p.m
• Duration: 01 Year, extendable based on performance and norms of IUCAA.
• Age Limit: 40 years.
• Qualification & Experience:

Essential: First class B.Sc. (Astronomy/Physics/Mathematics) or B.E. from a recognised University
(M.Sc. and/or B.Ed. desirable). Experience:
(i) 03 years of experience in conducting large and small-scale Science popularisation events involving

teachers and school students.
(ii) Familiarity with rural environments and readiness to travel and work there. (iii) Experience in educational content material creation. Skills:

(i) Good hands-on skills with knowledge of underlying Science for developing low-cost outreach exhibits.
(ii) Excellent communication skills in Marathi, Hindi and English (fluency expected in both written and

verbal).
(iii) Ability to handle telescopes of different kinds. (iv) Good social and management skills with a creative mindset and positive scientific attitude. Duties & Responsibilities:
Conducting Science and Astronomy workshops for school students and teachers, especially in rural

areas around Pune and at other places, as well as at the IUCAA Science Centre.
Coordinating and enabling science education activities in the region around the IUCAA Girawali

Observatory, Girawali.
Helping in preparation of resources for regular outreach activities, documentation etc. Help in conducting large-scale school education and public outreach events at IUCAA

NOTE: -
The candidate is expected to be present for all events, including those on weekends. The candidate has

to be willing to travel and conduct events in rural environs.
The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates for the recruitment process to a
