Job Description

The Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is responsible for teaching, research, and academic leadership in the field of pharmaceutical and medicinal chemistry. The role involves educating undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students, conducting high-quality research, publishing in reputed journals, securing research funding, and contributing to curriculum development and institutional service.

Key Responsibilities Teaching & Academic Duties.

  • Teach undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral courses in pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and related subjects.
  • Develop and update course content in accordance with current scientific advances and regulatory standards.
  • Guide and mentor postgraduate (M.Pharm) and doctoral (Ph.D.) students.
  • Conduct laboratory classes, seminars, and workshops.
  • Evaluate student performance through examinations, assessments, and practical evaluations.

Research & Scholarly Activities

  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in pharmaceutical/medicinal chemistry.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
  • Present research at scientific conferences and symposia.
  • Apply for and secure research grants from government and private funding agencies.
  • Supervise research scholars and research projects.

Academic Leadership & Service

  • Participate in curriculum design, syllabus revision, and academic planning.
  • Serve on academic committees, boards of studies, and examination panels.
  • Contribute to accreditation processes and quality assurance activities.
  • Support departmental and institutional development initiatives.

Industry & Professional Engagement

  • Foster collaboration with pharmaceutical industries and research organizations.
  • Participate in consultancy, continuing education programs, and professional development activities.
  • Stay updated with advancements in drug discovery, development, and regulatory guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Medicinal Chemistry / Pharmaceutical Sciences .
  • M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry (preferred).
  • Must meet regulatory requirements as prescribed by PCI .

Experience

  • Significant teaching and research experience at the university or college level.
  • Proven record of publications in reputed journals.
  • Experience in guiding postgraduate and doctoral students.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong expertise in medicinal chemistry, drug design, synthesis, and analysis.
  • Excellent teaching, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Research leadership and grant-writing ability.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary environments.
