Job Description – Production Supervisor

Position: Production Supervisor

Department: Production

Location: Erode

Reporting to: Managing Director

1. Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily production operations, ensuring product quality, maintaining safety standards, achieving production targets, and managing workforce activities on the shop floor.

2. Key Responsibilities

Daily Production Management

* Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities.

* Ensure production targets are achieved as per schedule.

* Monitor production processes and make necessary adjustments.

* Maintain proper documentation such as production reports, batch records, and logbooks.

Manpower Handling

* Allocate tasks to operators and workers.

* Monitor employee performance and ensure discipline.

* Provide on-the-job training to new and existing staff.

Quality & Food Safety

* Ensure products meet quality standards and specifications.

* Coordinate with QA/QC team to resolve quality issues immediately.

* Maintain hygiene, GMP, and food safety protocols throughout the production area.

Machine & Equipment Handling

* Ensure machines are operated correctly and safely.

* Coordinate with the Maintenance team for repairs or breakdowns.

* Monitor equipment performance and maintain daily checklists.

Inventory & Material Management

* Check availability of raw materials and packaging materials before production.

* Reduce wastage and ensure proper utilization of materials.

* Maintain records for material consumption.

Documentation & Reporting

* Prepare daily production reports, wastage reports, and shift summaries.

* Ensure compliance with SOPs and production standards.

* Report deviations, breakdowns, or delays to superiors.

Safety & Compliance

* Enforce workplace safety rules and PPE usage.

* Ensure compliance with FSSAI, GMP, and company policies.

* Conduct regular safety checks and ensure clean work environments.

3. Required Skills & Qualifications

* Diploma or Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Food Technology / Production Engineering.

* 2–5 years of experience in food manufacturing or FMCG production.

* Strong leadership and team management skills.

* Good knowledge of production processes, machinery, and quality standards.

* Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly.

* Good communication and reporting skills.
