The procurement & inventory specialist plays a crucial role in the production department by managing sourcing, purchasing, and inventory control processes. Collaborating with various teams, this individual ensures the availability of materials at the right time and cost-efficiently. Responsibilities include strategic sourcing, procurement planning, inventory optimization, and cross-functional collaboration. The procurement specialist is responsible for identifying reliable suppliers, monitoring their performance, and establishing strong relationships. They also translate production forecasts into material purchase plans, issue purchase orders, and resolve any discrepancies. Inventory control tasks involve maintaining optimal stock levels, overseeing cycle counts, and utilizing inventory-management software to monitor key performance indicators. Cross-functional collaboration is essential for this role, as the specialist partners with design and production teams to forecast material requirements and works with quality control to address non-conformances. Continuous improvement and cost control efforts include analyzing procurement spend, developing standard operating procedures, and leading audits for compliance. Qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field, along with at least 3-5 years of experience in procurement and inventory management, preferably in a fashion or apparel manufacturing environment.
