Process Engineer

Role & responsibilities

You will be responsible for preparing Process Engineering documentation and engineering support as part of the contract engineering team. Water treatment processes used will include, amongst others, Reverse Osmosis, Ion Exchange and Electro-deionisation along with any required pretreatment such as clarifiers, Media and Membrane filtration systems. Designs will be completed using supplier software as well as Ovivo standard spreadsheets and adapting those spreadsheets when required.

During commissioning you will provide process support to the site engineers reviewing performance data and advising on any issues that arise in a timely manner. This will continue with process support to the aftersales and service team on existing and new service contracts. The role involves working effectively with other departments within Ovivo and the ability to communicate ideas to colleagues, suppliers and customers will be essential to the of this role.

1. Review of Contrat specifications. Working closely with other engineering departments..

2. Develop calculations for equipment sizing, demonstrating process performance, including use of 3rd party software and Ovivo standards.

3. Provide P&IDs and PFDs and Process Calculations

4. Prepare functional design specifications and logic to communicate process requirements to software writers.

5. Provide process support to the aftersales team on refurbishment and service contracts.

6. Resolving problems by adjustments to existing equipment, addition of new equipment, or replacement by a new system, taking into account cost effectiveness, customer preferences and the correct technical approach.

7. Updates to completed proposals to keep track of project status, purchase dates, etc. Re-quoting as needed.

8. Evaluate design safety factors and process risk

9. Participation in review meetings when called upon including HAZOP and access, lifting and maintenance reviews.

10. Performing all work in accordance with established safety procedures

11. Work with other disciplines to evaluate impact of changes to design and document these impacts according to Ovivo procedures

12. Provide technical input to Operation and maintenance manuals

13. Prepare training documents for customer training.

14. Assist commissioning engineers with commissioning and optimising of pure water treatment plants

15. Other duties may be assigned as required.

Preferred candidate profile

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

BEng or BSc Degree (or equivalent) gained in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical or Chemical) along with a minimum of 1 year experience with pure water processes in the Energy Markets.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer skills:

Must have computer experience using company standard software and Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Graphic application programs.

Experience of working in AutoCAD.

Mathematical skills:

Ability to understand and apply mathematical concepts

Knowledge of basic engineering calculations is required along with an understanding of specific product related functions, such as time study calculations.

High productivity rate for Multi-discipline design/estimating and tender preparation.

Ability to handle multiple tenders and thrive within a busy Matrix Structure working productively and efficiently to tight timescales..

• Ability to read and interpret contracts, drawings and specifications.
• Whilst product training will be provided, experience and knowledge of the current Ovivo pure water product lines (Ion exchange, CPP, BWRO, Pretreatment, SWRO, EDI etc).
• Strong organization skills and capability to handle changing priorities
• Good commercial awareness and able to select most cost effective solutions.
• Good track record in working within successful teams securing new projects of value $1-10m in a water treatment environment working for end users and EPC companies.
