Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Second Generation (2G) Biofuels analyst to the setup, operation, and optimization of pilot-scale reactors for the production of 2G ethanol and Compressed Biogas (CBG) from lignocellulose feedstock. The successful candidate will play a critical role in scaling up our bioconversion processes from laboratory to pilot scale while ensuring optimal yield, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Pilot Reactor Setup & Operations

• Operate pilot-scale reactors for 2G ethanol and CBG production
• Establish and maintain optimal operating parameters for continuous and batch processes
• Troubleshoot reactor performance issues and implement corrective measures
• Scale up laboratory processes to pilot scale while maintaining process integrity
• Monitor anaerobic digestion processes for CBG production including methanogenic pathways
• Manage microbial cultures, maintain sterile conditions, and prevent contamination
• Optimize fermentation parameters including pH, temperature, residence time, and nutrient supplementation
• Implement advanced fermentation strategies such as simultaneous scarification and fermentation (SSF)
• BMP analysis using appropriate instrumentation such as AMPTS.

Chemical Analysis & Quality Control

• Perform comprehensive chemical analysis of feedstock, intermediates, and final products
• Conduct routine analysis including moisture content, lignin, cellulose, hemicellulose, and extractives determination
• Monitor sugar profiles, ethanol concentration, and biogas composition (CH4, CO2, H2S)
• Analyse fermentation inhibitors and their impact on process efficiency
• Utilize analytical techniques including HPLC, GC-MS, spectrophotometry, and titration methods as and when required
• Maintain detailed analytical records and generate technical reports/SOPs

Required Qualifications

Education

• B. SC or M. SC , or related field

Experience

• Minimum 1-3 years of hands-on experience in 2G biofuels production
• Proven experience with pilot-scale reactor setup and operations
• Strong background in lignocellulose feedstock pre-treatment technologies
• Extensive experience in fermentation processes for both ethanol and biogas production
• Proficiency in analytical chemistry techniques relevant to biofuels production
