Principal Software Engineer

As a Principal Software Engineer at Lowes, you will play a critical role in influencing various business and technology decisions. Key Responsibilities: - Identify and address problems by collaborating with teams and stakeholders to ensure clarity, convergence, and resolution. - Proactively seek out challenging issues faced by customers, engineers, and business leaders. - Define and execute the technical strategy for retail technology in alignment with business objectives. - Break down intricate problems to develop scalable and cost-effective solutions. - Facilitate the smooth deployment and adoption of new systems in coordination with product owners and stakeholders. - Analyze tradeoffs to create architecture prioritizing stability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. - Advocate for modern software methodologies to enhance development processes. - Provide technical leadership in system design and development, ensuring high-quality designs and secure systems. - Implement robust testing strategies to ensure software reliability. - Continuously monitor and optimize software performance to enhance customer experience. - Foster a culture of structured problem-solving and drive best practices to achieve high standards. - Explore and integrate open-source technologies while contributing to the open-source community. - Minimize operational overhead of systems and maintain well-documented dashboards, runbooks, and alerts. - Produce high-quality code, documentation, tests, and monitoring, and mentor junior engineers within the team. Qualifications Required: - 10 years of experience in software development or a related field. - 8 years of experience in software engineering competencies like frontend technologies, middleware, database technologies, or DevOps. - 8 years of experience working on projects involving the implementation of solutions through development life cycles. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Preferred Qualifications: - Master's degree in computer science, CIS, or related field. - 8 years of experience working with defect or incident tracking software, application and integration middleware. - 8 years of experience with tools related to continuous integration/continuous deployment, frontend technologies, middleware, database technologies, or DevOps. - 8 years of experience in systems analysis and high-level design for complex solutions. - 6 years of experience working with an IT Infrastructure Library framework. - 6 years of experience leading teams, with or without direct reports.,
