Principal Software Engineer, FinTech

In this role at Agoda, you will be part of the Platform team working on mission-critical systems that cater to millions of users daily. As a developer at Agoda, you will: - Architect and develop highly scalable, mission-critical back-end systems. - Own a significant portion of Agoda's system, from the north-star & vision down to the bytecode level. - Facilitate collaboration and cross-team projects on large-scale initiatives, enhancing the quality of services, code, and architecture. - Provide constructive feedback, foster an inclusive engineering environment, and promote engineering fundamentals to bring out the best in your fellow engineers. - Identify and implement optimization opportunities across the technology stack, with a focus on cost, efficiency, velocity, and developer happiness. - Demonstrate technical leadership across the organization, effectively communicating complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders such as business owners and C-suite executives. To succeed in this role, you will need: - A minimum of 10 years of experience in software engineering roles. - Proven hands-on experience owning production services that have had a significant impact on design, development, deployment, monitoring, and evolution. - Curiosity and a keen interest in staying abreast of technological advancements and open-source progress. - Strong programming skills in languages like Kotlin, Scala, Java, and C#. - The ability to conduct in-depth research and make decisions on complex projects, while also collaborating effectively within a team. - Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining intricate technical details to stakeholders at all levels. - Expertise in Back End development, along with an understanding of challenges and trade-offs in the broader engineering spectrum, from Front End/Mobile to Data and analytics. - A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. It would be great if you also have: - A Master's or Ph.D. in a technical field. - Experience in the FinTech domain. - Proficiency with Kubernetes for effective container orchestration and scaling. - Deep knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automation tools, and practices relevant to machine learning. - Experience in programming with Rust, C, or other low-level languages.
