Principal Development Engineer

As a Principal Engineer - Development at FIS, you will play a key role in implementing, unit testing, and supporting FrontArena and its related components using C++ and Python. Your responsibilities will include developing high-quality and high-performance solutions, interacting with clients to understand their requirements, incorporating those requirements into the design, and conducting demonstrations of the solutions to clients and stakeholders. Additionally, you will mentor junior developers in the team, perform functional validation of the solutions developed, and participate in peer code reviews. Your role will also involve designing technical and functional solutions, ensuring effective implementation, maintenance, and a client-focused approach. The team you will be a part of at FIS specializes in award-winning, multi-asset-class trading, position keeping, and market data solutions that primarily serve Sell and Buy Side customers with front-to-back best-in-class solutions. The team's expertise includes building high-performant systems that are highly scalable, with market leader solutions that include OTC integrations and support for top-tier investment banks across the world. In this role, you will be designing and developing multithreaded, high-performance solutions in C++ and Python, engaging with stakeholders for requirement understanding, ensuring optimal performance, quality, and automated unit testing, identifying bottlenecks and bugs, and devising solutions to address these issues. You will also be responsible for maintaining code quality, organization, and automatization, effective client communication, participation in customer demos, and ensuring on-time delivery of solutions. To be successful in this position, you should have 6 to 14 years of experience in software development, a solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, hands-on experience in C++, Advance C++, Multi-threading, Design patterns, and STL. Knowledge of SQL queries and RDBMS concepts is essential, along with a willingness to work on Python. Effective communication skills, the ability to take ownership of complete products, and a client-focused and learning-oriented mindset are crucial for this role. Experience in debugging and profiling tools, as well as exposure to Capital Markets or Investment Banking domains, will be advantageous.
