Job Description

As the Principal Database Engineer, you will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of the Database Engineering Program at Mastercard. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with Executive Management to define the overall strategy, focusing on a balance of architecture (70%) and engineering (30%) functions. Your expertise will be crucial in driving positive business outcomes and leading the application portfolio towards success. In this role, you will work closely with technical experts and management to influence the Database Engineering strategy. By aligning the application strategy with the database strategy, you will create roadmaps that guide the team towards achieving their goals. Your deep hands-on experience will be essential in architecting secured on-premise and cloud solutions, ensuring scalability, performance, and security compliance. You will lead cross-functional strategic initiatives, provide direction, and communicate a unified vision across the organization. Your ability to optimize support models, streamline security functions, and drive vendor management partnerships will be key to the success of the technology portfolio. Additionally, you will research and implement new technologies to enhance the existing database infrastructure and troubleshoot complex technical challenges. Your role will involve collaborating with development teams to achieve reliable, operable, scalable, performant, and secure systems. Your expertise in Oracle, Oracle GoldenGate replication, Performance Tuning, and Oracle database internals will be instrumental in driving the success of the Database Engineering Program. By creating and delivering presentations, driving intellectual property development, and mitigating risks, you will contribute significantly to the growth and success of Mastercard's database services. Overall, as the Principal Database Engineer, you will be a key player in the strategic direction and execution of database engineering initiatives at Mastercard. Your leadership, technical expertise, and collaborative approach will drive innovation and excellence in database services.,
