Position: Primary - Teacher (Grade 1-5)

Reporting to: Principal

Job Overview:

The primary class homeroom teacher is responsible for fostering a nurturing and productive learning environment for Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. This role includes creating lesson plans, delivering engaging instruction across various subjects, managing classroom activities, and promoting social, emotional, and academic growth.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Curriculum Development and Instruction:
• Develop weekly lesson plans that align with the schools curriculum and educational standards.
• Teach foundational subjects including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and accommodate different learning styles.
• Classroom Management:
• Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Implement classroom rules and procedures that maintain discipline and support effective learning.
• Manage classroom resources and maintain an organized and welcoming classroom space.
• Student Assessment and Evaluation:
• Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress.
• Use assessments to adjust instructional strategies and provide targeted support.
• Provide feedback to students in a constructive and supportive manner.
• Parent Communication:
• Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Prepare reports of student performance and behavior for parent-teacher conferences.
• Involve parents in the learning process through activities like homework, reading tasks, and special projects.
• Student Support and Development:
• Monitor and support the social, emotional, and academic development of students.
• Identify students needs and collaborate with other teachers, counselors, and specialists to provide additional support.
• Encourage positive behaviors and peer relationships among students.
• Professional Development:
• Participate in professional development programs to enhance teaching skills.
• Stay updated with the latest educational research and teaching methodologies.
• Share best practices with colleagues and contribute to staff meetings and school improvement plans.
• Extracurricular Involvement:
• Lead or assist with school events, clubs, and extracurricular activities.
• Encourage student participation in activities that support their interests and talents.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree
• Valid teaching certificate or B.Ed
• Experience in teaching at the primary level, particularly with Grades 1 and 2.
• Strong understanding of child development and primary educational strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in managing diverse classroom settings.
