Skills and Knowledge: CAD/CAM Software Proficiency: Expertise in using CAD software for creating 2D and 3D designs. Tooling Knowledge: Understanding of different types of press tools and their applications. Manufacturing Processes: Familiarity with various manufacturing processes, including stamping, machining, and EDM. Materials Science: Knowledge of material properties and their suitability for tooling applications. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design challenges. Communication: Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with different teams. Quality Standards: Awareness of quality standards like ISO 9001 and IATF 16949. Responsibilities: Design and Development: Creating designs for various press tools (e.g., blanking, piercing, forming, progressive dies) using CAD software. Material Selection: Choosing appropriate materials for the press tools based on their application and properties. Strip Layouts: Designing strip layouts for efficient material utilization in sheet metal stamping. Tool Optimization: Modifying existing tool designs to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance tool life. Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, engineering, etc.) to ensure tooling meets production needs and specifications. Troubleshooting: Providing technical support and troubleshooting for tooling-related issues during manufacturing. Compliance: Ensuring all designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations. Analysis and Testing: Conducting analysis and testing of tools to validate designs and optimize performance. Project Management: Managing tooling projects from concept to production, including timelines and budgets.
