Preparing the surfacesThe first major task of a powder coater is to prepare the surfaces of the products for coating. This may involve cleaning, degreasing and sandblasting the surface to ensure an optimal coating application. Application of coatingsA powder coater then applies the coatings using a handheld spray gun, ensuring an even distribution of the coating for a uniform finish. Curing the coatingOnce the powder coating is applied, the powder coater places the item in a curing oven, where the coating melts to form a hard, protective layer. Quality controlThe final step of the powder coater’s job is to inspect the finished product, ensuring that the coating is free of defects and meets the client’s specifications.
