Postgresql Developer

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain PostgreSQL databases, schemas, tables, indexes, and partitions.
• Build efficient stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views using

  PL/pgSQL

  .
• Optimize complex queries and ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability of database operations.
• Implement core PostgreSQL maintenance strategies including

  MVCC, VACUUM, ANALYZE, autovacuum tuning, and advanced indexing techniques

  .
• Support and optimize

  ETL pipelines

  and data integration processes.
• Develop and manage

  backup, restore, replication, and disaster recovery

  strategies, including PITR.
• Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and proactively address bottlenecks.
• Collaborate with application developers, data architects, BI teams, and other stakeholders to meet business and technical needs.
• Implement and enforce best practices for

  data security, access control, and data governance

  .

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience with

  PostgreSQL 11+

  in both development and administration.
• Deep knowledge of PL/pgSQL, triggers, constraints, indexing strategies, and table partitioning.
• Strong understanding of

  MVCC

  , vacuum processes, replication, and transaction management.
• Expertise in

  query optimization

  , indexing, and analyzing execution plans.
• Experience with PostgreSQL backup and recovery tools such as

  pg_dump, pg_restore

  , and

  PITR

  .
• Exposure to cloud-hosted PostgreSQL services (any of the below):
• AWS RDS
• Azure Database for PostgreSQL
• Google Cloud SQL
• Familiarity with ETL tools/frameworks such as

  Talend, Pentaho, or Python-based ETL solutions

  .

Experience

• 5+ years

  of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL Database Developer.
• Proven experience managing and optimizing

  large-scale production datasets

  .
• Experience with distributed systems or enterprise-grade applications is an added advantage.

Preferred Qualifications
