PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA)

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and proactive PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 3–7 years of hands-on experience to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing PostgreSQL databases in production and development environments, ensuring optimal performance,

reliability, and security.

Key Responsibilities:

● Install, configure, and maintain PostgreSQL databases across development, testing, and production environments.

● Monitor database performance and proactively optimize slow-running queries and processes.

● Ensure regular backups, perform restores, and participate in disaster recovery planning.

● Implement security best practices for data protection and access control.

● Support database-related requests from development and application teams (e.g., schema changes, stored procedures, performance tuning).

● Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly.

● Automate routine tasks using scripting or tools to improve operational efficiency.

● Maintain up-to-date documentation of database systems, configurations, and procedures.

Required Skills:

● 3–7 years of hands-on experience in PostgreSQL database administration.

● Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, and administration.

● Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL, including writing and optimizing queries.

● Experience with backup and recovery tools .

● Familiarity with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.

● Experience with Linux-based environments and basic shell scripting.

● Understanding of database security, user roles, and access controls.

● Familiarity with monitoring tools like pgAdmin, pg_stat_statements, or Grafana/Prometheus.

● Exposure to replication and high availability configurations (e.g., streaming replication, Patroni).

● Experience in handling large volume data.

● Must have experience working in the telecom domain.

Good to Have:

● Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure, or GCP PostgreSQL).

● Knowledge of DevOps tools like Docker, Ansible, or CI/CD systems.

● Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

● Basic knowledge of other database systems like MySQL, MongoDB, or Oracle.

Education: ● Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Job Type: Contractual / Temporary

Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹2,200,000.00 per year
