Postdoctoral Research Associate

You have a wonderful opportunity to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Seismology Lab at IISER Mohali. As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will be involved in conducting research in various project areas related to seismology, geophysics, and machine learning applications in Earth sciences. The fellowship is funded by the institute, and the selected candidate will be based in Punjab, India. You will have the chance to work on projects such as ambient seismic noise analysis for aquifer stress monitoring, seismological imaging of the Main Himalayan Thrust, earthquake source studies, crustal velocity structure in the NW Himalaya, and application of AI/ML techniques for seismic signal detection and classification. Your key responsibilities will include leading and collaborating on data analysis, modeling, and publication, developing and applying machine learning tools for seismic data interpretation, assisting in establishing computational infrastructure for the lab, contributing to research proposals and collaborative projects, mentoring junior researchers, and presenting research at academic forums. To be eligible for this position, you should have a Ph.D. in Seismology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, Physics, Data Science, or related computational disciplines. Strong programming skills and experience in data analysis or numerical modeling are required, and prior experience with AI/ML tools such as Python libraries and deep learning frameworks is highly desirable.
