MTS SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER

THE ROLE:

The focus of this role is to plan, build, and execute the verification of new and existing features for AMD's graphics processor IP, resulting in no bugs in the final design.

THE PERSON:

You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/timezones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Physical Design Experience:

    Full flow RTL-to-GDS with signoff analysis know-how.
  • Tool Proficiency:

    Experience with Synopsys and Cadence toolsets (Fusion Compiler, Innovus).
  • Low Power Methodology:

    Understanding of low-power design concepts and UPF.
  • Scripting & Automation:

    Skills in Python, TCL, PERL for automation and flow development.
  • Debugging:

    Ability to review logs and understand run scripts.
  • Communication:

    Strong communication skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Academic Credentials:

    Master's/Bachelor's in Electronics Engineering
  • Industry Experience:

    5-10 years in CAD flow and methodology development on advanced nodes (3nm & 2nm).

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop place and route methodologies for advanced technology nodes.
  • Collaborate with synthesis and signoff teams to achieve best-in-class PPA (Power, Performance, Area).
  • Drive PPA convergence for SOC implementation.
  • Script utilities to automate implementation flow.
  • Support global design teams through multiple PnR flow stages, including chip finish flows.
  • Work closely with EDA vendors to identify innovative solutions and track methodology issues.

Preferred Skills

  • Hands-on experience with multi-voltage designs and industry-standard PnR tools (Fusion Compiler, ICC2).
  • Experience in synthesis, STA, or physical verification domains.
  • Strong understanding of low-power flows: UPF, power-gating, isolation, level-shifter, voltage areas, power-state tables, electrical checks.
  • CAD and automation mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Team player with a good work ethic

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
