Job Summary

The Plumbing and Firefighting Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of plumbing and firefighting technicians and laborers at construction sites. This role ensures that installations and maintenance of plumbing and fire protection systems are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, safety standards, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Supervision and Site Management

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of plumbers and pipefitters on-site.
• Ensure proper installation of plumbing systems (water supply, drainage, sanitary fixtures) and firefighting systems (sprinklers, hydrants, pumps).
• Monitor daily site progress and allocate manpower accordingly.
• Interpret and execute construction drawings, specifications, and work procedures.
  

Quality Control and Compliance

• Ensure work is executed in compliance with local plumbing codes and fire safety regulations
• Check alignment, level, and quality of installed systems.
• Ensure materials used are as per approved specifications.
  

Installation and Testing

• Oversee pressure testing, leak tests, and system flushing for plumbing networks.
• Supervise hydrostatic tests and other inspections for fire protection systems.
• Coordinate with third-party inspectors or safety officers for approval and certification.
  

Coordination and Communication

• Coordinate work with other trades (electrical, HVAC, civil).
• Attend site coordination meetings and communicate updates to engineers and management.
• Maintain daily reports of labor, material usage, and work progress.
  

Safety and Housekeeping

• Enforce safety protocols and proper PPE usage on-site.
• Ensure the job site is kept clean and organized to minimize hazards.
• Report unsafe practices or incidents to the safety officer or site manager.
  

Qualifications

• Education

  : Diploma or ITI (Industrial Training Institute) in Plumbing, Mechanical, or a related field.

• Experience

  : 48 years of hands-on experience in plumbing and fire protection systems, with at least 23 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
  

• Technical Skills

  :
  
• Ability to read and interpret MEP/shop drawings.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing and firefighting tools, materials, and installation methods.
• Familiarity with testing procedures and safety regulations.
