Job Description

As a Plumber in the maintenance department of our mall operations, you will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and maintenance of plumbing systems throughout the facility. This includes troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on various plumbing fixtures and systems to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for both visitors and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Inspections and Maintenance:
  • Conduct regular inspections of plumbing systems, including pipes, faucets, toilets, and drains, to identify and address potential issues.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to prevent plumbing problems and ensure the efficient operation of all plumbing components.
  • Repairs and Troubleshooting:
  • Respond promptly to plumbing-related issues reported by staff or visitors and diagnose the root cause of problems.
  • Execute repairs on malfunctioning plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Installation and Upgrades:
  • Install new plumbing systems, fixtures, and equipment as needed, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Collaborate with contractors or other maintenance professionals for major plumbing installations or upgrades.
  • Emergency Response:
  • Be available for on-call duty to respond to emergency plumbing issues during non-business hours.
  • Effectively address emergency situations such as leaks, clogs, and other plumbing-related problems.
  • Record Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate records of plumbing inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Report any major issues or trends to the Maintenance Supervisor for further action.
  • Compliance with Codes and Regulations:
  • Ensure all plumbing work complies with local, state, and federal plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in plumbing codes and standards and implement necessary updates.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other members of the maintenance team to address cross-functional issues that may impact overall facility operations.
  • Communicate effectively with mall management and other relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a plumber, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in various conditions, including confined spaces.

Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program.
  • Valid plumbing license.
