Description
As a PLS-CADD Operator at BetterDrones, your role involves processing drone survey data and creating accurate transmission line design models using PLS-CADD software. You will collaborate with drone operations, GIS, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality survey outputs for powerline inspection, design, and asset management projects. Key Responsibilities - Process drone-captured LiDAR, photogrammetry, and survey data into PLS-CADD software for transmission line modeling. - Develop and update powerline profiles, sag-tension calculations, and clearance analysis. - Generate detailed reports and design outputs including plan & profile drawings, stringing charts, and clearance violation reports. - Perform terrain and structure modeling from survey data for new line design and existing line assessment. - Ensure compliance with power utility standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications. - Collaborate with the drone operations team to define survey parameters and ensure data quality. - Validate and cross-check survey outputs with GIS and CAD teams for accuracy. - Support engineers in feasibility studies, line uprating, re-stringing, and asset management analysis. - Maintain documentation and project archives for all PLS-CADD related work. Required Skills & Competencies - Proficiency in PLS-CADD software (mandatory). - Understanding of LiDAR data processing and point cloud management. - Strong knowledge of transmission line design concepts (sag, clearance, tension, loading, etc.). - Experience with survey data integration (GPS, Total Station, Drone-based survey outputs). - Familiarity with CAD/GIS software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS/QGIS preferred). - Ability to analyze and interpret large datasets with attention to detail. - Strong problem-solving and technical documentation skills. - Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across drone, survey, and engineering teams. Qualifications - Diploma / B.Tech / B.E. in Civil / Electrical / Surveying / Geoinformatics / related discipline. - Certification or training in PLS-CADD preferred. - 13 years of experience in transmission line design or survey data processing. - Prior exposure to Drone/LiDAR-based survey projects is an added advantage.
