Experience:

Position Purpose

The Playwright Automation Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable end-to-end (E2E) automation suites for modern web applications. The role ensures high-quality product releases, strengthens CI/CD automation, and enhances user experience across browsers and devices. The engineer will work closely with Product, Development, and DevOps teams to embed quality across the software lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities

• Design & architect Playwright test frameworks using TypeScript (POM, data-driven testing, modular utilities).
  
• Develop and maintain E2E, functional, regression, and smoke test suites.
  
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, Jenkins).
  
• Perform cross-browser testing (Chromium, Firefox, WebKit) and device emulation.
  
• Collaborate with developers to add testability hooks and resolve flaky tests.
  
• Optimize test execution (parallel runs, sharding, selective runs).
  
• Develop API automation (REST/GraphQL) using Playwright or Axios/SuperTest.
  
• Manage test data, fixtures, mocks, and environments.
  
• Contribute to QA strategy, test coverage, and process improvements.
  
• Mentor junior QA engineers and participate in code reviews.

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

Primary Skills (Must Have)

Programming:

• 7+ years in TypeScript/JavaScript
  
• Strong OOP, async/await, Promises, module systems (ESM/CommonJS)
  

Automation:

• 5+ years building frameworks using Playwright (or Cypress)
  
• Expertise in POM, Service Object Pattern, reusable test utilities
  

Testing Fundamentals:

• QA methodologies, test pyramid, TDD/BDD
  
• Experience with Jest/Mocha, Chai/expect
  

CI/CD & DevOps:

• Experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure Pipelines, Jenkins
  
• Reporting tools: Allure, HTML Reports, JUnit XML
  

Version Control:

• Git workflows – branching, PRs, rebasing, tagging
  

Agile:

• Experience in Scrum/Kanban, 2-week sprints
  

Cross-Browser:

• Knowledge of browser internals, dev tools, device emulation
  

Communication:

• Strong documentation and clear communication with stakeholders
