Job Title: Platform Engineer
Location: Bengaluru - Manyata Tech Park
Business & Team: To us, data is everything. It's what powers our cutting-edge features and it's the reason we can provide seamless experiences for millions of customers from app to branch, and this team manages one of the biggest Peta-byte scale data platform used across the bank by different business units to do data analytics and derive data insights. You will be part of Data Platforms Modernization Crew and one of the Crew initiatives is to manage data platforms on AWS cloud. This is a portfolio of work that involves building solutions, frameworks and tools around the data platforms and you will play a pivotal role in delivering the security capabilities of the new cloud data platform. You will solve problems, design, implement and maintain solutions in a DevOps environment.
Impact & contribution: As an experienced Platforms Engineer with proven expertise in Systems or DevOps engineering, you're ahead of trends and work at the forefront of Data platform engineering and related technologies, which is why we're the perfect fit for you. Here, you'll be part of a team of Systems and Data Engineers going above and beyond to improve the standard of digital banking, using the latest tech to solve our customers most complex data-centric problems. We're responsible for CommBank's key analytics capabilities and work to create world-leading capabilities for analytics, information management and decisioning. We work under the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) division, and you will be working with Data Platform Engineering and Security products, focussed on providing safe, sound and secure solutions and capabilities, by applying engineering principles and best practices.
Roles & Responsibilities:

• Have solid experience with DevSecOps delivery using Agile practices with specific focus on the following concepts: source control, CI/CD, automated testing, logging and monitoring.
• Contributes to the development of simple test harnesses, frameworks, tools and infrastructure to enable test automation, CI/CD and code quality.
• Builds robust test doubles to minimise dependencies.
• Performs basic maintenance and monitoring of non-production environments.
• Influences product design, implementation and enhancement to support testability and quality.
• Contributes to process changes to improve product quality.
• Automates basic real time anomaly detection through services such as log monitoring.
• Build, integrate and maintain basic solutions to provide test data.
• Utilise standardised metrics and reporting to provide testing and quality insights.
• Create well-engineered, scalable and reliable tests.
• Participate in learning culture through activities such as guilds and brown bag lunches.
• Advocates for and contributes to implementing Quality Practices initiatives in the Squad and Crew.
• Creates overarching testing artifacts (Test Strategy/Approach, Test Exit Report) aligned with minimum
• testing standards, ensuring regular review and sign-off.
• Participates in defect triage meetings with Product Owners, following up until defect closure, and share bug status reports regularly with stakeholders.
• Identifies and applies tools to accelerate quality, demonstrating analytical skills for designing effective test strategies aligned with project requirements.
• Exhibits a strong problem-solving acumen, efficiently addressing issues throughout the testing process.
• Possess proficiency in creating new automation frameworks in response to project demands.
• Demonstrates expertise in data handling within the context of API testing to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Essential Skills: We're interested in hearing from people who have:

• 5 to 8 years of strong expertise in application containerisation using Docker, DevOps engineering and CI/CD tools including Jenkins, Ansible, Teamcity, GitHub and Artifactory.
• Strong experience in Python is highly essential.
• Strong understanding of SRE best practices i.e. Logging, Monitoring, Security.
• Extensive experience in AWS cloud (S3, EC2, ECS Fargate, EKS) and Infrastructure as code (CloudFormation / Terraform) and secrets management (Hashicorp Vault).
• Good understanding of relational database and SQL (preferably Teradata).
• Solid understanding of Data platform and security practices and solution design principles.
• Effective organisational, communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Education Qualification:Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in Engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology
