Job Description - Plant & Equipment (Manager & Above) Position : Manager / Sr. Manager / AGM / DGM / GM - Plant & Equipment Department : P&M (Plant & Machinery) Industry : Thermal / Industrial / Metro / Water / Oil & Gas / Building Projects Role Overview The P&M Leader (Manager and above) is responsible for strategic planning, deployment, operation, and maintenance of all plant & equipment assets across multiple projects. The role ensures high equipment availability, cost efficiency, safety compliance, and strong coordination with project teams for seamless project execution. Key Responsibilities 1. Strategic & Project Coordination - Lead and oversee P&M operations for multiple projects such as Metro, Industrial Buildings, Water Projects, Oil & Gas, Tunnels, Power, Airports, Bridges, and General EPC Works. - Forecast project-wise equipment requirements and develop deployment strategies. - Oversee mobilisation and demobilisation schedules across sites with proper documentation. - Conduct site visits to review equipment performance, resource planning, and operational challenges. - Provide technical guidance to project teams for equipment selection and productivity improvements. 2. Equipment Operations & Utilization - Ensure optimal usage of equipment across the organisation to reduce idle time and rentals. - Approve equipment allocation plans, deployment schedules, and inter-project movements. - Oversee daily operations of equipment, including cranes, DG sets, batching plants, compressors, piling rigs, and heavy machinery. - Standardise equipment operating procedures across sites. 3. Maintenance & Technical Management - Define and implement preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance systems. - Ensure minimum equipment downtime through improved planning. - Approve major repairs, overhauls, and replacements. - Ensure calibration, certifications, and statutory compliance. 4. Asset & Inventory Management - Maintain and approve the master asset register. - Review spare parts planning, procurement, and inventory. - Monitor fuel, lubricant, and spare consumption across sites. - Evaluate equipment health for repair or replacement. 5. Safety, Compliance & Quality - Ensure adherence to safety requirements across all equipment. - Conduct site safety audits and ensure corrective actions. - Ensure operators are trained and certified. - Drive safety and quality culture within P&M. 6. Leadership & Team Management - Lead and manage Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians, and Operators. - Provide coaching, training, and performance management. - Build technical capability within the P&M team. - Ensure accountability and discipline across teams. 7. Financial, Budgeting & Cost Optimization - Prepare annual CAPEX & OPEX budgets. - Monitor equipment operating costs and fuel consumption. - Approve buy vs. hire decisions. - Negotiate vendor rates and ensure cost-effective procurement. 8. Vendor & Contract Management - Oversee vendor selection for rentals, servicing, and procurement. - Approve AMCs, rate contracts, and service agreements. - Monitor vendor KPIs and compliance. Qualifications & Experience - Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering. - Experience in Metro, Thermal, Water, Industrial, Oil & Gas, Tunnels, Bridges, Airports, Power, or Building projects. - Strong knowledge of heavy machinery and maintenance systems.
