Piping Checker

You will be working as a Piping Checker in the CPL-BVOPS-ENGR & DEV SVCS business unit at Black & Veatch. Your primary responsibility will be to function in a lead engineering technician capacity, where you will modify or create deliverables by applying basic engineering principles and established design practices to develop moderately complex design concepts. Additionally, you will provide technical guidance and may offer direction to other engineering professionals. Key Responsibilities: - Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control, and departmental guides to develop deliverables - Proactively apply Black & Veatch Quality Program to deliverables - Review design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance with specific codes and standards - Develop design concepts and deliverables using engineering principles - Coordinate with other design group personnel to exchange project information - Focus on internal client needs while understanding external client interests - Seek and share knowledge of latest technologies and processes - Provide guidance, mentoring, and feedback to lesser experienced Engineering technicians Preferred Qualifications: - Diploma or Certificate preferred - Associate Degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Related Technology preferred - Minimum of 5 years related work experience Preferred Non-Technical Skills: - Learning on the Fly - Problem Solving - Perseverance - Patience - Time Management - Drive for Results - Self Development - Listening - Informing Preferred Technical Skills: - Experience in electronic applications and programs such as CADD - Intermediate knowledge of engineering standards, systems, and Black & Veatch policies - Intermediate industry knowledge and technology trends - Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content - Basic knowledge of construction practices and principles - Basic knowledge of engineering design principles - Basic knowledge of procurement and contract administration All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background checks and drug screening.
