II.

To perform phlebotomy with good technique and aseptic precaution to collect accurate quantity of blood of the patients for pathological tests.

III. KEY RESPONSBILITIES

Core Responsibilities

Maintain the cleanliness.
Responsible to make available all the items used for phlebotomy.
Properly checks the payment slip and investigations as advised by the doctor.
Maintain the privacy of the room.
Explain the procedures to the patient.
Do the phlebotomy by taking aseptic precaution.
Draw the blood in appropriate container in correct quantity.
Labeling of the sample with patients name and ID.
Handing over of the sample to the related department in pathology along with investigation slip.
Proper disposal of waste material like syringes, cotton swabs etc.
Acknowledgement of samples & maintain the data of the phlebotomy.
Advise to patient to collect the report from the pathology counter.

IV. Measurable

Consistency generates accurate results.
Able to manage phlebotomy room independently with a minimum level of supervision.
Optimal utilization of equipment and material resources.
Minimum downtime of all equipments in the phlebotomy room.

V. Minimum

DMLT/ BMLT

Experience

0-3 years experience as a Phlebotomist.

Technical

Well versed in specialties of Lab Sciences.

Behavioral Skills

High on energy and enthusiasm
Process oriented
Presence of mind
Hardworking
Team player
