Job Title: PGT – History (Classes XI–XII, Humanities)

Role Overview

To engage and inspire students in understanding historical events, civilizations, and global developments, while cultivating analytical thinking, empathy, and an appreciation for cultural diversity. The role aims to nurture informed, reflective, and responsible citizens with a deep awareness of how history shapes the present and future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Deliver engaging and well-structured lessons on ancient, medieval, and modern history, aligning with the CBSE curriculum for Grades XI–XII.
  • Critical Thinking: Encourage students to analyze historical sources, causes, and consequences of events, developing their ability to think independently and interpret evidence.
  • Classroom Engagement: Foster debates and discussions on historical themes and perspectives to enhance reasoning, empathy, and communication skills.
  • Research Orientation: Guide students in conducting research projects, case studies, and presentations that deepen their understanding of historical developments.
  • Assessment: Design and administer formative and summative assessments that measure conceptual understanding and analytical skills.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Plan and execute a comprehensive history curriculum aligned with board requirements, ensuring thorough coverage for the Humanities stream.

  • Student Feedback: 80% positive feedback from students through structured feedback forms.
  • Parent’s Feedback: 80% positive feedback from parents gathered via periodic surveys.
  • Syllabi Completion: 100% of the prescribed syllabus to be completed and documented in the syllabi format.
  • Improvement of All Students: Each student should demonstrate at least a 10% improvement from the first to subsequent internal assessments.
  • Academic Performance: At least 50% of students should score above 75% in internal exams and board assessments.

Skills

Strong subject expertise in Indian and World History, ability to connect historical contexts with current affairs, analytical thinking, student engagement, classroom management, and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in History or related field.
  • B.Ed. or prior teaching experience preferred.
  • Experience teaching Class XI–XII History under the CBSE curriculum is highly desirable.
