Role: Performance Tester IVRS Software

Overview

A Performance Tester for an IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) evaluates the system’s speed, stability, scalability, and responsiveness under varying loads. The goal is to ensure the IVRS application can handle real-world call volumes efficiently without failures or delays.

Key Responsibilities

Requirement Analysis

Understand IVRS architecture, call flows, CTI (Computer Telephony Integration), and backend APIs.

Identify performance KPIs such as response time, concurrent calls, transaction throughput, and latency.

Test Planning

Design test strategy for load, stress, spike, endurance, and scalability tests.

Define SLAs (Service Level Agreements) for call handling performance.

Test Scripting

Create automated call scripts using tools like Hammer, Empirix, Cyara, JMeter (VoIP), or LoadRunner.

Simulate real-world call scenarios: DTMF inputs, voice recognition, database lookups, and transfers.

Test Execution

Run performance tests on IVR applications connected to telephony servers.

Measure performance of SIP trunks, TTS (Text-to-Speech), ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition), and call routing.

Monitoring

Use tools to monitor CPU, memory, network, and database utilization on IVR, CTI, and web service servers.

Capture call logs, error logs, and SIP traces during load.

Analysis and Reporting

Identify performance bottlenecks (e.g., high call abandon rate, latency in voice response).

Compare results against benchmarks.

Prepare performance reports with graphs and recommendations.

Required Skills

Strong knowledge of IVRS systems (Avaya, Cisco, Genesys, or Asterisk).

Experience with VoIP protocols (SIP, RTP, SS7).

Expertise in performance testing tools (LoadRunner, JMeter, Hammer, Empirix, Cyara).

Familiarity with APIs, databases, and network monitoring tools (Wireshark, Grafana).

Good understanding of Linux/Windows servers, telephony integration, and web services.
