A fast-paced healthcare provider in the eye care / optometry sector delivering comprehensive pediatric vision services across Bangalore. We run a high-volume outpatient clinic focused on early vision screening, amblyopia and strabismus management, contact lens care for children, and family-centered eyecare pathways.We are hiring an on-site Pediatric Optometrist to join our clinical team at Whitefield, Bangalore to deliver high-quality pediatric assessments, diagnostics, and therapeutic vision services.Role & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric eye examinations including age-appropriate visual acuity tests, refraction, and binocular vision assessment for infants to adolescents.
- Perform cycloplegic refraction and retinoscopy; prescribe corrective spectacles and manage pediatric contact lens fittings as indicated.
- Identify and manage common pediatric conditionsamblyopia, strabismus, refractive errorsand implement vision therapy or referral pathways where required.
- Operate diagnostic equipment (slit lamp, autorefractor, keratometer, tonometer, direct/indirect ophthalmoscope) and document findings accurately in EMR.
- Collaborate with pediatric ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and referrals; support surgical screening and pre/post-op assessments when needed.
- Lead pediatric vision screening programs, parent counseling, patient education, and follow-up care to ensure compliance and therapeutic success.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- B.Optom or M.Optom (or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in pediatric optometry.
- Registration with the relevant state optometry council or regulatory body (valid for clinical practice in India).
- Proficiency in pediatric refraction techniques including cycloplegic refraction and retinoscopy.
- Hands-on experience with slit lamp biomicroscopy and pediatric vision screening protocols.
- Familiarity with contact lens fitting and spectacle dispensing for children.
- Strong clinical record-keeping and experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for ophthalmology/optometry.
Preferred
- Training or certification in vision therapy / orthoptics.
- Experience working in high-volume pediatric clinics or hospital eye departments.
- Ability to communicate in Kannada and English to engage caregivers and families effectively.
