Job Description

Role & responsibilities
To spearhead the entire lab comprising all sections and ensure alignment of processes to precise testing with a quick turnaround time.
Include adherence to relevant professional standards and guidelines, and involvement with clinical governance issues and audit, as well as providing advice and being a focus for all issues relating to quality in the laboratory.
Provide effective leadership for the medical laboratory service, including proper budgetary planning and financial management, in tandem with corporate finance, senior management and all of the technical directors.
Ensure that staff with the requisite education, training and competence has been appropriated to provide medical laboratory services that meet the needs and expectations of the users.
To be responsible for the adequacy, rotation & training, maintaining training records and conduct retraining and reassessment of his/ her team when necessary
The position will have to handle security of documents and must ensure that all information and data collected in the lab is kept safe.
Address any complaint, request or suggestion from staff and / or users of the laboratory services with proper documentation.
Design and implement a contingency plan to ensure that essential services are available during emergency situations or other conditions when laboratory services are limited or unavailable.
Ensure the implementation of the quality policy in co-ordination with the Medical Director of the laboratory.
Plan and direct research and development where appropriate in co-ordination with management and department heads.
Provide clinical advice with respect to the choice of examinations, use of the service and interpretation of examination results.
Participate in CMEs/ Conferences, so that it has an influence on the perception of doctors.
This position is responsible for the technical and scientific operation of the laboratories under his/her jurisdiction.
Review and release of all patient reports as per protocols and policies and within well defined turn around time.
To do microscopic examination of abnormal slides and quality reporting with timely intimation of critical information to the doctors/clients.
Must have knowledge of ISO 15189 and NABL 112 guidelines and should have completed the ISO 15189:2022 course.
Must ensure Internal quality controls (IQC) are run as per the scheduled protocol and are maintained very well within defined limits.
Periodically review of EQAS, ILC, IQC and LJ charts and also ensure the CAPA maintained.
To prepare the lab for the due accreditation processes like NABL/CAP and internal audits and any audits by external agencies/CRO etc.
Ensure all instruments should be validated and documented properly: validation records, IQ, OQ and PQ etc.
Must be aware of any current and evolving legislation, revised national policies or guidelines and any updates to standards and aim to ensure that quality systems meet the requirements.
To update and review test SOPs and communicate to the Lab Technicians.
Ensure All Manual, QSP, SOPs, Forms and formats are readily available and implemented on real-time basis.
Conduct Risk Assessment & monitor compliance for all Lab areas.
Ensure Quality Indicators must be up to the mark.
Ensure Critical call outs done on real time basis.
Managing knowledge sharing and evaluating it with our team members based on the needs of the users.
