As a perioperative nurse, your role will involve providing surgical patients with comprehensive care throughout their perioperative journey. This includes assisting in the recovery, procedure, and operating rooms, ensuring a safe and sterile environment for both patients and medical staff. Key responsibilities for this role include: - Stocking operating rooms with sterile surgical equipment, linens, and supplies to ensure readiness for surgical procedures. - Developing and implementing nursing care plans tailored to the needs of surgical patients. - Preparing patients for surgery by cleaning and disinfecting the areas to be operated on, following strict sterile techniques. - Assisting surgeons during procedures, anticipating their needs, and ensuring the smooth flow of the operation. - Collaborating with surgical teams and other medical professionals on patient medication and post-surgery care to deliver comprehensive treatment. - Updating patient files and medical records accurately to maintain a detailed medical history. - Providing patients with post-surgery care instructions and addressing any questions or concerns they may have. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the operating theater by: - Ensuring the preparation of materials and equipment in the OT, receiving and preparing patients for surgery. - Monitoring vital parameters of patients during surgery and coordinating patient transportation to the recovery room post-operation. - Implementing strict hygiene, sterilization, asepsis, and disinfection protocols before, during, and after operations to maintain patient and staff safety. - Supervising and training nurse aides and cleaners in the OT, following MSF protocols for quality care. - Controlling equipment and material stock in the OT to ensure efficient resource utilization. - Contributing to monthly reports as per guidelines, including statistical reports.
