Job Description

Key Responsibilities of an Optometrist: Conducting Eye Exams: Utilizing various tools and techniques to evaluate visual acuity, eye movements, and overall eye health. Diagnosing Vision Problems: Identifying conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and eye diseases such as glaucoma or cataracts. Prescribing Corrective Lenses: Matching patients' vision needs with appropriate eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids. Managing Eye Diseases: Monitoring and treating eye conditions, sometimes requiring medication or other treatments. Counseling Patients: Educating patients on eye health, preventive measures, and the importance of regular eye exams. Collaborating with Other Healthcare Professionals: Working with ophthalmologists, optometrists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care. Performing Minor Surgical Procedures (as permitted): Certain states allow optometrists to perform minor surgical procedures to address visual or eye issues. Referrals: Referring patients to other healthcare professionals, such as ophthalmologists, when specialized care is needed.
