Job Description

As a Lighting and Optics Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing new automotive lighting and display prototypes for future products. Your responsibilities will include: - Designing light source and projection systems utilizing a combination of LEDs, lasers, electronics, and software components to showcase new concepts and prototypes. - Performing CAD design and optical simulations using tools like SPEOS, ZEMAX, and Lucidshape to validate proposed concepts and progress towards proof of concept demonstrations. - Collaborating with the product and tooling teams to comprehend product requirements and manufacturing feasibility. - Conducting photometric measurements, analyzing the results, and optimizing prototype performance. - Developing and implementing testing protocols to characterize optical component and system prototypes. - Contributing to the development of the company's lighting product roadmap and staying updated on photometric legal requirements. - Proposing new ideas and concepts for product realization and generating IPs based on these innovations. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and electrical engineers, to ensure the seamless integration of optical components. - Conducting feasibility studies, providing technical expertise in optical design reviews, and incorporating innovative solutions into designs. Your work experience should ideally encompass: - 5-10 years of experience in optical design and simulations. - Proficiency in CAD tools such as ANSYS, CATIA, and SolidWorks for laying out optics geometry. - Experience with optical simulation software like ZEMAX, Lucidshape, Speos, or similar tools. - Familiarity with lighting system components such as Headlamp, Tail lamp, DRL, Front Fog lamp, Mood lighting, etc., both for exterior and interior lighting systems. - Knowledge of LEDs, lasers, and halogen bulbs as light sources and their integration into optical systems. - Project experience in developing automotive lighting products with various functions using LED or reflector and bulb technologies. - Programming skills in Python, MatLab, or LabView are desirable. - Good understanding of photometric and radiometric quantities, optical equipment, and components like optical filters, reflectors, lenses, and diffusers. - Experience in fabrication using injection molding would be advantageous. In terms of educational qualifications: - Required: Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or Physics. - Preferred: Masters or Ph.D. in Optics, Photonics, or a related field. Your expertise in lighting and optics will be instrumental in driving innovation and maintaining the company's competitive edge in the automotive industry.,
