Technician / Optometrist / Doctor Interns

Job Summary

The Technician / Optometrist / Doctor Intern will work in our Chennai office to guide medical scribes in accurately documenting clinical findings, including diagnostic eye test results and scan readings, as dictated by USA-based ophthalmologists. This is a non-clinical role, meaning no direct patient interaction or on-site clinical testing is involved. The intern will focus on analyzing data provided by ophthalmologists, understanding the doctors dictation, and ensuring scribes enter the correct values and terminology. The role requires a strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and diagnostic tools, with the ability to work efficiently during late evening to early morning hours to align with USA time zones.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret Scan Readings

  : Analyze and interpret results from diagnostic tools (e.g., OCT, fundus photography, visual field tests) provided by USA-based ophthalmologists to ensure accurate information is relayed to the scribe for documentation.

• Guide Scribes

  : Work closely with medical scribes to ensure accurate transcription of the doctors dictation, including test results, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Verify that the scribe enters the correct values and terminology as per the doctor’s instructions.

• Understand Dictation

  : Listen carefully to the ophthalmologist’s dictation and provide guidance to scribes to ensure precise and error-free documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.

• Maintain Accuracy and Compliance

  : Ensure all documentation adheres to USA healthcare standards, including HIPAA compliance, and maintain high accuracy in clinical data entry.

• Stay Updated

  : Keep abreast of advancements in ophthalmic diagnostic tools, procedures, and terminology to provide effective support to scribes.

• Team Coordination

  : Work collaboratively with the scribe team and other interns in the Chennai office to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks during the assigned shift (6:00 PM to 2:30 AM IST).

Qualifications and Skills

• Educational Background

  :
• Current enrollment in or completion of a degree/diploma in Optometry, MBBS, or a related medical/healthcare field.
• Candidates with a technician background in ophthalmology or relevant certifications are also encouraged to apply.

• Knowledge

  :
• Strong understanding of ophthalmic procedures, diagnostic tests (e.g., OCT, tonometry, refraction), and terminology.
• Familiarity with USA healthcare documentation standards is a plus but not mandatory (training will be provided).

• Skills

  :
• Excellent attention to detail to ensure accurate interpretation of scan readings and transcription guidance.
• Strong communication skills to interact with scribes and understand ophthalmologist dictation.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively during night shifts.
• Basic computer proficiency for using electronic health record (EHR) systems and scribe software.
