Roles and Responsibilities Conduct eye exams to diagnose vision problems and prescribe glasses or contact lenses as needed. Dispense eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other optical devices according to prescriptions. Provide patients with information on proper care and use of their new glasses or contacts. Perform refractions to determine the correct prescription for each patient's eyes. Maintain accurate records of patient examinations, including test results and prescriptions.
