Operations & Maintenance Engineer / Technician Rooftop Solar Plant

The O&M Engineer/Technician will be responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of a 1 MW rooftop solar power plant. The role involves hands-on technical maintenance, supervision of panel cleaning activities, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure maximum uptime and energy generation efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform regular inspection, preventive, and corrective maintenance of all solar plant components (modules, inverters, LT/HT panels, transformers, etc.).
• Oversee solar panel cleaning twice daily from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
• Manage a 10–12 hour work shift, including breaks, with electrical maintenance, monitoring, and reporting tasks scheduled between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
• Monitor plant performance using SCADA/monitoring systems and analyze generation data.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical faults promptly to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, TNEB/CPCB norms, and plant operation guidelines.
• Maintain detailed daily, monthly, and annual generation and maintenance records.
• Supervise and manage a small team of panel cleaning staff to ensure proper upkeep of solar modules.
• Maintain inventory of essential spares and coordinate procurement as required.
• Liaise with DISCOM, vendors, and service providers for operational and maintenance needs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in solar O&M (rooftop or ground-mounted).
• Strong technical understanding of solar systems, inverters, and electrical maintenance.
• Ability to manage a small cleaning team and ensure timely work completion.
• Knowledge of safety practices, grid synchronization, and monitoring tools.
• Good communication, analytical, and reporting skills.
