Operations Engineer

The IT Network Engineer position at Corning is crucial for maintaining and optimizing the organization's network infrastructure. As an IT Network Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, integrity, security, and efficiency of the network systems that support core organizational functions. Collaborating with other IT teams, you will troubleshoot and resolve network issues, implement new technologies, and uphold global standards. Your responsibilities will include serving as a network subject matter expert within a complex global network environment. You will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure, troubleshooting and resolving network issues promptly to minimize downtime and enhance performance, as well as collaborating with cross-functional IT teams for comprehensive troubleshooting. Furthermore, you will keep network processes and procedures documentation up to date, perform root cause analysis on issues, and work with Architect and Engineering teams to enhance network reliability and performance. To excel in this role, you should possess a 4-year degree in Information Technology or a related field, combined with relevant experience. You will need a strong understanding of network protocols and technologies, proficiency in configuring and managing network devices, experience with automation and coding for network changes, and familiarity with network monitoring and management tools. Additionally, knowledge of network security practices and tools, as well as relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCNP, will be advantageous. The role may require up to 30% travel, including potential international destinations.
