Job Description

Job Summary

The O&M Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of solar power plants managed by Sunshell Power. The role involves monitoring system performance, conducting preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring maximum plant uptime and generation efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations & Monitoring

  • Perform daily monitoring of solar plant performance using SCADA and other monitoring tools.
  • Analyze generation data to identify performance gaps or abnormalities.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Conduct periodic preventive maintenance of inverters, modules, transformers, switchgear, and balance-of-system equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults related to electrical, mechanical, or communication issues.
  • Execute corrective actions to minimize downtime.

3. Site Management

  • Perform on-site inspections and safety audits.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of the plant area including module cleaning planning.
  • Oversee vendors or contractors involved in O&M activities.

4. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly performance reports.
  • Maintain documentation of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and system changes.
  • Report critical issues to the O&M Manager with recommended actions.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Enforce lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Conduct safety toolbox talks and risk assessments.

6. Technical Support

  • Support performance improvement initiatives and root-cause analysis.
  • Assist in commissioning of new solar projects or upgrades.
  • Provide technical feedback for design improvements.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Diploma/Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or related field.

Experience

  • 1–5 years of experience in Solar PV Operations & Maintenance (utility-scale or rooftop).
  • Experience with inverters, transformers, HT/LT panels, SCADA, and metering systems.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of solar PV systems and electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and communication faults.
  • Hands-on experience with tools, multimeters, thermal cameras, etc.
  • Good analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in remote environments.

Preferred Certifications

  • Electrical Supervisor/License (if required by state regulations).
  • Training in solar system O&M, SCADA monitoring, or safety certifications (e.g., First Aid, Fire Safety).
