O&M Head

Key Responsibilities:

Operations Management

• Ensure smooth and safe operation of the roaster plant to meet production and quality targets.
  
• Monitor key process parameters (temperature, gas composition, SO recovery, conversion efficiency, etc.) to optimize plant performance.
  
• Coordinate with raw material handling, leaching, acid plant, and utilities for continuous plant operation.
  
• Prepare and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical operations.
  

Maintenance Management

• Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of rotary roasters, waste heat boilers, ESPs, ID/FD fans, cyclones, conveyors, and other associated equipment.
  
• Minimize unplanned breakdowns and improve equipment availability and reliability.
  
• Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and defect elimination initiatives for repeated failures.
  
• Ensure spares, consumables, and critical inventory management for uninterrupted operations.
  

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)

• Implement and enforce safety standards and permit-to-work systems during operation and maintenance.
  
• Ensure compliance with statutory environmental regulations (SO emissions, dust levels, etc.).
  
• Promote a strong safety culture and conduct regular training, audits, and mock drills.
  

People & Leadership

• Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, operators, and contract workforce across shifts.
  
• Build capability through training, mentoring, and skill development.
  
• Drive accountability, team engagement, and performance culture.
  

Performance & Cost Optimization

• Achieve high equipment utilization, energy efficiency, and throughput at optimal cost.
  
• Control operating and maintenance budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  
• Benchmark performance against global best practices in zinc roasting.
  
• Lead digitalization, automation, and asset optimization initiatives.
  

Coordination & Reporting

• Collaborate with process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and safety teams for seamless functioning.
  
• Report on production, downtime, energy consumption, and key KPIs to plant management.
  
• Prepare annual shutdown plans and oversee major overhauls.
  

Key Skills & Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of zinc roasting process, metallurgy, and waste heat recovery systems.
  
• Expertise in rotary roaster operation, refractory maintenance, and gas handling systems.
  
• Proficiency in maintenance systems (RCM, TPM, SAP-PM, CMMS).
  
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
  
• Analytical and problem-solving ability with focus on continuous improvement.
  
• Knowledge of statutory requirements for pollution control, factory act, and mining/metallurgy norms.
