Job Title: Head of Department DieteticsDepartment: Clinical Nutrition & DieteticsLocation: AhmedabadReporting to: CEO Nutriwel India Pvt LtdExperience Required: 15-20 years in Clinical Nutrition & DieteticsAge Bracket: 38-45 yearsEmployment Type: Full-TimePosition OverviewThe Head of Dietetics Department is a senior leadership role responsible for the complete strategic and operational management of the Dietetics Department at a large multispecialty hospital in Ahmedabad and oversee other locations. The HOD will ensure the delivery of evidence-based, patient-centric nutritional care, aligned with medical goals and best practices. This role demands a strong combination of clinical expertise, administrative acumen, and people leadership to guide the department towards excellence in nutritional services across inpatient, outpatient, and specialized clinical areas.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategic ManagementOversee the entire operations of the Dietetics & Clinical Nutrition Department.Develop departmental goals, KPIs, and quality standards in alignment with the hospitals mission and medical protocols.Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of clinical dietitians, nutritionists, and support staff.Represent the department in hospital leadership meetings, audits, and reviews.Clinical Oversight & Quality CareSupervise the development and implementation of therapeutic diet plans for patients across all specialities (ICU, oncology, nephrology, cardiology, bariatrics, etc.).Ensure timely and accurate nutrition assessments, interventions, and monitoring in collaboration with treating physicians.Establish SOPs and clinical protocols in compliance with national and international healthcare standards (NABH, JCI, etc.).Administrative & Operational ControlManage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and infrastructure needs.Coordinate with the hospital kitchen/catering services to ensure safe, hygienic, and accurate execution of prescribed diets.Oversee food service audits, hygiene standards, and menu planning across general and therapeutic diets.Training, Research & DevelopmentPlan and conduct regular CME sessions, training programs, and workshops for internal staff and junior nutritionists.Encourage and lead research initiatives, publications, and innovations in clinical nutrition.Foster continuous learning within the team and ensure upskilling in emerging nutrition trends and technologies.Patient & Community EngagementSupervise patient education programs and counselling sessions for chronic disease management, post-discharge care, and lifestyle nutrition.Lead awareness drives, public health initiatives, and hospital outreach related to nutrition and wellness.Qualifications & ExperienceEducational Background:Masters Degree in Clinical Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, or a related field.Experience:Minimum 15 years of experience in a hospital-based clinical nutrition setting, with at least 5 years in a leadership or Head of Department role.Proven track record in managing large teams and working in NABH/JCI-accredited hospitals.Age Requirement:38 to 45 years (as per organizational policy for leadership roles).Skills:Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.Deep clinical knowledge across specialities.Operational expertise in food service and hospital kitchen management.Familiarity with EMR systems and hospital information systems.
