About the Role:

We’re looking for skilled and detail-oriented Writers to produce local news stories that resonate with a U.S. audience. You should be comfortable working with a structured content format, open to feedback, and capable of writing clear, concise, factually correct, and engaging copy that feels native to American readers. This opening is for 2 of our brands - Whatnow (https://whatnow.com/) and Edhat (https://www.edhat.com/)

Responsibilities

1. Write 3–4 articles per day covering local U.S. news, including community updates, events, and human-interest stories.
2. Follow editorial guidelines to ensure tone, style, and structure are aligned with native U.S. journalism standards.
3. Conduct online research using reliable sources, local news reports, and verified information.
4. Ensure factual accuracy, proper attribution, and source credibility in all content.
5. Incorporate feedback from editors and revise drafts promptly.
6. Write clear, engaging headlines and compelling ledes that grab the reader's attention.
7. Meet daily deadlines and maintain consistent output in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
8. Collaborate with editors and fellow writers to improve story quality and newsroom efficiency.

Qualifications

1. Must have

   at least one year of journalism work experience

2. Good to have

   - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field.
3. 2–4 years of experience writing for a digital media outlet catering to the US audience, preferably with journalism experience
4. Strong command of English grammar, syntax, and American news writing conventions.
5. Ability to write in a clear, concise, and engaging style for a U.S. audience.
6. Familiarity with AP style, news formatting, and SEO best practices.
7. Comfortable using Google Docs and WordPress (CMS).
8. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
