This role is focused on the design and development of aircraft structures, including the creation of detailed manufacturing manuals, Bill of Materials (BOM), and support for aircraft prototyping. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in aircraft design, with a particular emphasis on structural integrity, material selection (including carbon composites), and manufacturing processes. As a key member of the design team, you will work closely with other engineers, suppliers, and manufacturers to ensure that all structural components meet safety, regulatory, and performance standards. You will also play a pivotal role in the prototyping phase, translating design concepts into practical solutions while ensuring that design and manufacturing processes are fully documented for production readiness. Key Responsibilities: Structural Design & Analysis: Design and develop structural components and systems for aircraft, ensuring compliance with industry standards (DGCA) and company-specific requirements. Perform structural analysis and simulations to validate designs for load-bearing capacity, durability, and overall performance. Optimize designs for weight, cost, and manufacturability without compromising safety or performance. Manufacturing Documentation: Create detailed manufacturing manuals and technical documents that clearly define the manufacturing process, assembly instructions, and quality control requirements for aircraft structures. Develop and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) for structural components, ensuring accuracy and completeness for procurement and production purposes. Collaborate with manufacturing and production teams to ensure design intent is followed during the build process. Prototyping & Testing: Support aircraft prototyping activities, including the design and fabrication of prototype components. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate prototype testing, evaluate performance, and iterate on design improvements. Analyze test results and provide engineering feedback to refine designs and resolve any issues identified during testing. Carbon Composite Materials: Work extensively with carbon composites in aircraft structural design, focusing on manufacturing-level integration and production processes. Ensure the design and manufacturing processes for carbon composite components are optimized for efficiency, quality, and performance. Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure proper handling, curing, and quality control of carbon composite materials. Provide expertise in composite manufacturing techniques, such as autoclave curing, resin infusion, and layup processes. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-disciplinary teams, including aerodynamics, systems engineers, and manufacturing engineers, to ensure seamless integration of structural components with the overall aircraft design. Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and drafters. Communicate design progress, issues, and solutions to project managers and senior leadership. Continuous Improvement: Stay current with the latest trends and developments in aerospace materials, design tools, and manufacturing technologies. Identify opportunities to improve design efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in structural design engineering, with a focus on aircraft or aerospace structures. Proven experience in the design and analysis of aircraft components and systems. Hands-on experience in prototyping and working with manufacturing teams to bring designs from concept to production.
