Merchandiser/fashion designer

Role Overview:

The Merchandiser for Kids Clothing will be responsible for end-to-end product development, vendor management, and ensuring timely execution of kidswear collections from concept to delivery. This role requires strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, costing, production timelines, and a keen sense of fashion trends in childrens apparel.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development & Sampling

• • Work closely with the design team to develop seasonal kidswear collections (ethnic, casual, festive, and occasion wear).
• • Source fabrics, trims, and accessories suitable for kidswear (soft-hand feel, child-safe materials, certified dyes).
• • Coordinate sample development with vendors/factories and ensure timely approvals.
• • Maintain T&A (Time & Action) calendars for sampling and production.

Vendor & Supplier Management

• • Identify and negotiate with suppliers for fabrics, trims, and finished goods.
• • Ensure vendors comply with quality, safety, and ethical standards for kidswear.
• • Build strong relationships to ensure cost efficiency and timely deliveries.

Costing & Pricing

• • Prepare product costing sheets, ensuring target margins are met.
• • Negotiate prices with suppliers while maintaining product quality.
• • Support management in pricing strategies for retail/e-commerce.

Production & Quality Control

• • Monitor production closely to ensure adherence to approved samples.
• • Coordinate with QC teams to conduct inline and final inspections.
• • Troubleshoot production issues and minimize delays or rejections.

Market & Trend Research

• • Stay updated on kidswear fashion trends, consumer preferences, and competitors’ collections.
• • Provide inputs to the design and marketing team for new collection planning.
