Job Description

The MEP Engineer is responsible for planning, design, execution, and supervision of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in building and infrastructure projects. This role ensures MEP systems are integrated efficiently with architectural and structural elements, comply with industry standards, and meet project specifications, budget, and timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Planning

  • Develop detailed MEP designs using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar BIM software.
  • Coordinate MEP design with architectural and structural components.
  • Analyse system options and recommend solutions for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing needs.
  • Prepare design calculations, load assessments, and material specifications.

2. Project Management & Execution

  • Supervise installation and commissioning of MEP systems on-site.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resources for MEP scopes.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work quality and compliance.
  • Review and approve technical drawings, submittals, and RFIs.

3. Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in project meetings and report progress and issues.
  • Liaise with local authorities to ensure code compliance and obtain necessary approvals.

4. Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure MEP systems adhere to building codes, environmental regulations, and safety standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design revisions, test reports, and as-built drawings.
  • Provide technical support during construction and resolve on-site issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 10 years) in MEP design and execution.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, MS Project, and related software.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, power distribution, fire protection, lighting, and plumbing systems.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NEC, IPC, NFPA).

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • PMP, LEED, or relevant local engineering licenses (e.g., PE, CEng, etc.)
