MEP Design Manager-Mechanical

Role & responsibilities

Design Management

• Lead and manage complete mechanical design activities including HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, STP/WTP, Gas systems, and allied services.
• Review consultant drawings, specifications, BOQs, and calculations for compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Ensure integration and coordination of mechanical designs with Electrical, Public Health, Structural, Architectural, and Civil designs.

Coordination & Approvals

• Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to resolve design issues.
• Manage design approvals from clients, statutory authorities, and third-party consultants.
• Conduct regular design coordination meetings and issue MOMs.

Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with national and international codes such as NBC, ASHRAE, IS codes, NFPA, and local authority regulations.
• Ensure designs meet sustainability, energy efficiency, and green building requirements (LEED/IGBC/GRIHA), if applicable.

Value Engineering & Cost Control

• Carry out value engineering to optimize system performance, cost, and maintainability.
• Assist in preparation and review of cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents.
• Evaluate vendor technical submittals and alternative proposals.

Project Support

• Provide technical support to site teams during execution, installation, testing, and commissioning stages.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, and commissioning plans.
• Resolve site-related design queries (RFIs) in a timely manner.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 8–15 years of experience in MEP design, w
• Proven experience in high-rise, large commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects.
