Job Description of Mechanical Maintenance Technician

A Mechanical Maintenance Technician installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical systems and equipment by performing routine inspections, diagnosing malfunctions, and conducting necessary repairs to ensure optimal performance and safety. Key duties include reading technical documents, fabricating or replacing parts, maintaining meticulous records, adhering to safety protocols, and collaborating with other professionals to resolve mechanical issues in various industrial and commercial environments.

Key Responsibilities

· Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on machinery such as motors, pumps, and valves to minimize downtime.

· Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing mechanical failures, troubleshooting issues in equipment and systems, and completing repairs or replacing defective components.

· Installation & Upgrades: Assembling and disassembling mechanical components for repair, and installing new machinery or upgrading existing equipment.

· Reading & Interpretation: Understanding and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and other technical documentation to guide repair and maintenance tasks.

· Testing & Calibration: Testing mechanical components for proper functionality and performance, and calibrating machinery settings for optimal efficiency.

· Record-Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all maintenance and repair activities, often using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).

· Safety Compliance: Ensuring all work is conducted in compliance with safety standards, protocols, and regulations.

· Collaboration: Working effectively with engineers and other technicians to solve complex mechanical problems and improve equipment efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications

· Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating hand and power tools, welding, machining, and other fabrication techniques.

· Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify the root cause of mechanical failures and develop effective solutions.

· Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding of mechanical systems, their inner workings, and how to keep them running efficiently.

· Documentation Skills: Ability to accurately document maintenance procedures, equipment status, and repair details.

· Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to following safety procedures and regulations.

· Adaptability: The capacity to work in a dynamic environment, sometimes under tight schedules, and adapt to different tasks.

Job Type: Full-time
