Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in steel fabrication and erection works, your role will involve interpreting structural and fabrication drawings, preparing material take-offs, coordinating with fabricators and site engineers, and ensuring that all works are executed according to design and quality standards. Key Responsibilities: - Review and interpret structural, fabrication, and erection drawings for accuracy and feasibility. - Coordinate between design engineers and fabrication teams to clarify technical details. - Supervise fabrication activities to ensure dimensions, weld quality, and material specifications match approved drawings. - Visit the fabrication shop and erection site regularly to monitor progress and resolve technical issues. - Prepare and verify material take-offs, cutting lists, and fabrication schedules. - Work closely with vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure timely delivery of materials and components. - Assist in planning, scheduling, and execution of fabrication and erection works. - Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and industry standards at all stages of the project. - Communicate effectively with the project manager and client representatives on design and site coordination issues. Qualifications & Skills: - B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Diploma holders with strong experience may also be considered). - 8-10 years of proven experience in steel fabrication and erection works (preferably in industrial or plant projects). - Strong knowledge of fabrication drawings, GA drawings, and structural detailing. - Proficiency in reading AutoCAD and fabrication/erection drawings. - Hands-on understanding of welding symbols, tolerances, and fabrication standards. - Excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to lead fabricators and site teams. - Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and suggest on-site modifications when necessary. - Familiarity with QA/QC documentation and project reporting is an added advantage.
