Teaching and student mentorship

• Instruction: Deliver lectures, run lab sessions, and teach workshops for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Mentorship: Advise students on academic and career matters, supervise their research projects (like theses and dissertations), and help them with career development.
• Assessment: Prepare, administer, and grade assignments, exams, and reports.
• Student support: Actively participate in student recruitment, registration, and advising sessions.

Research and scholarly activities

• Conduct research: Carry out original research in a specialized area of mechanical engineering.
• Publish and present: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present them at conferences.
• Secure funding: Write grant proposals and manage budgets for research projects.

Curriculum and administration

• Curriculum development: Design, develop, and update courses, syllabi, and teaching materials to align with industry needs and accreditation standards.
• Quality assurance: Participate in the review of courses and programs to ensure quality and relevance.
• Service and leadership: Serve on faculty committees and perform other administrative duties, with more senior professors taking on more leadership roles.

Professional and industry engagement

• Industry collaboration: Work with industry partners on applied research projects and facilitate knowledge transfer.
• Professional development: Stay updated on the latest developments and maintain professional links within the field.
• Consulting: Provide professional consultative services to government, industry, and private organizations.
