Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Math Tutor who is not just a problem-solver, but a thinker and decision-maker. This role goes beyond teaching formulas. You will assess students, decide what to teach, how much to teach, when to slow down, and when to push forward.

If you only follow a fixed syllabus without judgment, this role is not for you.

Key Responsibilities1. Academic Teaching

  • Teach Mathematics as per student’s board, grade, and exam goal (CBSE/ICSE/IB/IGCSE/State/Competitive).
  • Explain concepts clearly, logically, and step-by-step.
  • Ensure conceptual clarity, not rote solving.

2. Diagnostic & Decision-Making Responsibility

  • Diagnose student gaps (conceptual, practice, speed, confidence).
  • Decide:
  • Which topics need re-teaching
  • Which topics can be skipped or fast-tracked
  • When to shift from concept-building to exam practice
  • Choose appropriate problem difficulty (easy → medium → advanced).

3. Study Planning Input

  • Contribute to:
  • Weekly study plans
  • Topic prioritisation
  • Revision strategy
  • Decide realistic workload based on student capacity (not fantasy planning).

4. Progress Monitoring

  • Track:
  • Topic completion
  • Accuracy
  • Speed
  • Retention
  • Flag issues early (burnout, overload, stagnation).

5. Communication & Feedback

  • Communicate clearly with:
  • Students (what to do and why)
  • Parents/Study Managers (progress, risks, expectations)
  • Give honest feedback—no sugar-coating.

Decision Authority (Important)

You are expected to independently decide:

  • Teaching pace
  • Topic sequence (within syllabus boundaries)
  • Practice intensity
  • When intervention is required

Escalate only when needed. This is not a micromanaged role.

Required Skills & TraitsAcademic

  • Strong command over school-level Mathematics.
  • Ability to connect concepts across chapters.

Cognitive & Personal

  • Sound judgment and logical thinking.
  • Ability to say “this is not working, we need to change approach.”
  • Calm under pressure.
  • Student-first mindset (not ego-driven teaching).

Experience

  • Prior experience teaching Mathematics (online or offline).
  • Experience handling average or struggling students preferred (not only toppers).

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: ₹11,375.54 - ₹45,235.22 per month

Expected hours: 12 – 18 per week

Application Question(s):

  • Which board you are educated from in Class 11 and 12

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Preferred)

Work Location: In person
