Job Description

Position Title: Marine Executive HSEQ Department

Location: Gurgaon

Reports to: HSEQ Manager / Marine Superintendent

Department: Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)

Purpose of Role:

To assist the HSEQ department in ensuring that all company-managed vessels and shore operations comply with international, flag state, and company safety and quality standards. The Marine Executive will support safety initiatives, maintain statutory documentation, and coordinate audits, inspections, and safety committee activities to promote a strong safety culture across the fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the HSEQ Manager in implementing and maintaining the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with the ISM, ISPS, MLC, and ISO standards.
  • Coordinate and follow up on vessel safety committee meetingstrack meeting minutes, monitor corrective actions, and report trends to management.
  • Maintain and update all vessel and office certificates, ensuring timely renewals and compliance with class, flag, and statutory requirements.
  • Assist in organizing internal and external audits (ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 9001/14001/45001), including preparation of audit plans, documentation, and closure of non-conformities.
  • Monitor and record incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, ensuring that root cause analyses and corrective actions are completed and verified.
  • Compile and analyze HSEQ performance statistics and KPIs (e.g., LTIF, near misses, environmental incidents) for management review.
  • Coordinate training programs, drills, and safety campaigns for vessels and shore staff to promote awareness and compliance.
  • Liaise with flag states, classification societies, P&I clubs, and other regulatory bodies as required for inspections, certifications, and compliance matters.
  • Maintain the company's document control system for HSEQ manuals, procedures, and circulars.
  • Assist with risk assessments, management reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives within the HSEQ system.
  • Provide general administrative and technical support to the HSEQ department as needed.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, or a related maritime discipline.
  • Minimum 37 years experience in HSEQ or marine operations within a ship management or shipping company.
  • Good understanding of ISM Code, ISPS Code, MLC, ISO standards, and flag/class certification requirements.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office and familiar with fleet or safety management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with ship staff and external authorities.
  • Seagoing background (Deck or Engine Officer) preferred but not mandatory.
