Manual Tester / QA Engineer – Job Description

Role Overview

As a Manual Tester, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of software applications by manually executing test cases, identifying defects, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities

• Test Planning & Design: Analyze software requirements and create detailed test plans and test cases to ensure comprehensive coverage of functionalities.
• Test Execution: Manually execute test cases on various platforms, including web and mobile applications, to identify defects and ensure software behaves as expected.
• Defect Identification & Reporting: Identify, document, and track software defects using bug tracking tools like Jira or Bugzilla, providing detailed steps to reproduce and relevant information.
• Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure that new code changes do not negatively impact existing functionality.
• Collaboration: Work closely with developers, business analysts, and product owners to understand requirements and ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of test cases, test results, and any relevant testing artifacts, and provide regular updates on testing progress and outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience in manual software testing.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in creating clear and comprehensive test cases.
• Familiarity with test case management and defect tracking tools like Jira, Bugzilla, TestRail, or HP ALM.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for database validation.
• Experience using tools like Postman or SoapUI for API testing.
• Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and mobile operating systems (iOS, Android).
• Ability to use browser developer tools for debugging
